Film Forum Coronado: 'Carnival of Souls'
About the Event
Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library's Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story.
"Carnival of Souls" (1962. 80 min. PG.) - Ingmar Bergman meets The Twilight Zone! Enter the dreamlike world of “Carnival of Souls” — eerie, atmospheric and hugely influential. Intended to have the “look of Bergman and the feel of. Cocteau”, the film follows the sole survivor of a fatal accident as she finds herself becoming more disconnected from the world— being mysteriously drawn to an abandoned carnival pavilion and experiencing visions that blur the line between reality and the supernatural. Starring Candace Hilligos and Sidney Berger.
