Cirque Kalabante: Afrique en Cirque

About the Event

Bursting with color, movement, music, and astonishing athleticism, Afrique en Cirque transports audiences into the vibrant heart of West African culture through an electrifying fusion of contemporary circus arts and traditional African performance.

Created by Guinean multidisciplinary artist Yamoussa Bangoura and performed by the internationally acclaimed troupe Cirque Kalabanté, this exhilarating production draws inspiration from everyday life in Guinea, celebrating the energy, resilience, artistry, and joy found throughout African communities. Accompanied by the infectious rhythms of live Afro-Jazz, percussion, and kora music, performers soar through the air, build gravity-defying human pyramids, and execute breathtaking acrobatic feats that leave audiences in awe. The result is a visually stunning spectacle that pulses with rhythm, emotion, and nonstop excitement.

Founded in 2007, Cirque Kalabanté has become internationally recognized for blending the traditions of African dance, music, and storytelling with the virtuosity of modern circus performance. Under the direction of Bangoura — a former artist with Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloize, and Circus Baobab — the company has captivated audiences around the world with productions that celebrate cultural pride while showcasing extraordinary physical artistry. In Afrique en Cirque, every element of the performance contributes to the immersive experience: vibrant costumes, live musicians performing onstage, explosive choreography, and acrobatics that highlight remarkable strength, agility, and precision. Far more than a traditional circus show, the production offers a joyful and deeply human celebration of connection, community, and artistic expression.

Audiences of all ages can expect an unforgettable evening filled with wonder, excitement, and contagious energy from beginning to end. From soaring flips and intricate balancing acts to thunderous drumming and dynamic ensemble performances, Afrique en Cirque creates an atmosphere that is both exhilarating and uplifting. The show’s combination of live music and breathtaking physical performance makes every moment feel immediate, immersive, and alive, drawing audiences into a celebration that transcends language and borders. Vibrant, powerful, and inspiring, this internationally acclaimed production offers a thrilling reminder of the universal joy of live performance and the extraordinary beauty of African artistry.
